Experience

Dr. Kuester is board-certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Christian Medical and Dental Association, and is one of Richmond's "Top Doctors" for pediatric orthopaedics. She is an associate professor at the VCU School of Medicine's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Practice

One of the top qualities in a surgeon, Dr. Victoria Kuester says, is to be a good listener. That's why, from the very first appointment, she pays close attention to each child and his or her parents or caregivers to understand their pain, needs, goals and concerns. "I believe that if we as surgeons are willing to take time to listen, think through the problem beforehand and explain everything, it helps us to better plan and prepare for surgery," she says. In addition to common bone fractures and traumas (particularly in the active spring and summer months), Dr. Kuester cares for children with congenital deformities of the upper and lower body, musculoskeletal disorders, and scoliosis. "I enjoy taking care of people's physical needs," says Dr. Kuester, regarded by patients, families, and colleagues for her kind, gentle approach to care. "There is no better feeling than seeing a child who was injured return to daily life or to their chosen sport, or to see arms or legs with congenital deformity straightened and functioning well. It is incredibly rewarding to see patients after surgery with smiling faces."
