Practice

Dr. Shah treats adult patients with various gastrointestinal, pancreatic and hepatobiliary (liver and gallbladder) problems. Many of his patients benefit from conservative treatments and endoscopic procedures that he performs. He is highly skilled and very experienced with the most up-to-date endoscopic techniques including Colonoscopy, Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and ERCP.

Education

Dr. Shah earned his medical degree from Peshawar, Pakistan where he graduated in the top 1% of his class before moving to the U.S. in 2000. He pre-matched in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and graduated as the Best Resident of the Year in 2003. Dr. Shah had the privilege of working another year as a Chief Medical Resident at UCONN and was awarded the Chief Medical Resident of the Year Award in 2004. He then completed an intensive 3-year Gastroenterology/Hepatology fellowship from the University of Miami in Miami, FL.

Profile

Dr. Shah lives with his family in Richmond and is physically active and loves to lift weights to stay in shape. He enjoys tennis, soccer, spending time with his family, traveling, world politics and is an ardent fan of the game of cricket. He is married to Ghuncha, a psychologist, who is currently taking time off to raise their three children. He is fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, Pashto and has a working knowledge of Punjabi and Hindko.
