James Ethan Puryear, DDS

Experience

Dr. Puryear is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Practice

During his time at VCU Dr. Ethan was very involved with Give a Kid a Smile, early childhood dental education, and the M.O.M. project. His work with the Child Health Investment Partnership of Roanoke Valley in dental school and residency inspired him to start his career practicing in the New River Valley of Southwest Virginia following residency. What Dr. Puryear enjoys most about being a pediatric dentist is making dental care fun and enjoyable for children. He believes that striving for optimal oral health in childhood builds the foundation for a lifetime of excellent oral health.

Education

Dr. Puryear holds a history degree from NC State University and a biology degree from the University of NC Greensboro. He completed both his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and his specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at VCU.

Profile

Dr. Puryear and his wife E.A., and two daughters, Alice and Harper are excited to be back in the Richmond area. When he is not in the office Dr. Puryear enjoys hiking, biking, cooking, and spending time with his family.
