C.D. Anthony Herndon, MD

Experience

Board certified in Pediatric Urology and Urology, Dr. Herndon is also a member of the Society for Pediatric Urology, European Society for Pediatric Urology, and American Academy of Pediatrics. He specializes in pediatric urology, continent urinary reconstruction, hypospadias/ambiguous genitalia, prenatal hydronephrosis, robotic surgery, undescended testes, vesicoureteral reflux, and spina bifada.

Practice

Dr. Herndon joined VCU Health in 2015 and is currently the Director of Pediatric Urology at Children’s Hospital of Richmond. Prior to coming to Richmond, he was the Director of Pediatric Urology at UVA School of Medicine.

Education

After attending medical school at the University of North Carolina, Dr. Herndon completed a six year residency in urology at the University of Connecticut. He then moved on to complete a two year pediatric urology fellowship at Indiana University’s Riley Hospital for Children.

“My main interest outside of the hospital involves coaching my kids in either basketball or lacrosse. I was a competitive swimmer in high school and eventually swam at the University of North Carolina. I have maintained my competitive drive through distance running and competing in the Iron Man Triathlons.”
