Dr. Bowman's mission is to provide his patients with professional, state-of-the-art medical and surgical care for the eyes. He specializes in small incision cataract extraction with lens implant, glaucoma, laser surgery, macular degeneration, and the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic diseases of the eye. Dr. Bowman and his partners perform routine comprehensive examinations, as well as those for the management of ocular disease. Whether performing routine eye examinations for glasses or contact lenses, or complex new procedures for the treatment of disease, Dr. Bowman strives to maximize and preserve the patient’s vision.Education
Dr. Bowman is a graduate of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia, where he was an Echols Scholar. He received his M.D. from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed an internship in internal medicine and residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia, where he served as chief resident, and he is board-certified in ophthalmology.Profile
Dr. Bowman lives in Richmond with his wife and children. In his spare time, he enjoys photography and golf. He has a particular interest in exploring innovative photographic techniques, including kite and other remote vehicle aerial photography and time-lapse imagery. He is also an amateur graphic designer, with experience in numerous computer-assisted artistic endeavors.
