MedRVA Imaging Center at West Creek Responds to Radiology Associates of Richmond Data Breach
Richmond, Va. — MedRVA Imaging Center at West Creek has been made aware of a recent data breach involving Radiology Associates of Richmond (RAR), the independent radiology reading group that interprets imaging studies for our patients. According to RAR, the breach affected more than 1.4 million individuals across Virginia and occurred in April 2024, with detection in May 2025.
We want to reassure our patients and partners that MedRVA Imaging Center’s systems were not compromised during this incident. All MedRVA internal systems remain secure, and there is no evidence to suggest any breach of MedRVA patient records.
RAR has stated that affected individuals may have had personal information exposed, including names, dates of birth, medical details, and health insurance information. For a limited number of patients, Social Security numbers may also have been accessed. RAR began sending formal notification letters to potentially impacted individuals earlier this month through its security partner, Cyberscout.
Patients who receive a letter from RAR are encouraged to follow all recommended steps, including enrolling in the free credit monitoring service being offered and considering additional precautions such as placing a fraud alert or security freeze on their credit reports.
