Richmond, VA — MedRVA announced today that Shirley Martell has been selected as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer. She will assume the role in mid-April.
Martell brings more than 15 years of healthcare executive leadership experience across hospital and specialty care settings. Most recently, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Select Specialty Hospital in Richmond, where she led operational improvements, strengthened referral relationships, and advanced employee engagement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Prior to that role, Martell served as Chief Operating Officer of Hialeah Hospital, a 378-bed acute care facility, where she directed hospital-wide operations, improved financial performance, and expanded service lines to better meet community needs. Her background also includes leadership of multimillion-dollar capital projects, regulatory compliance oversight, physician relations, and large-scale operational management.

Martell holds an MBA in Healthcare Administration and has led organizations through complex regulatory environments while maintaining a focus on quality, access, and community partnership.
